Many first time buyers who bought their house before the recession are facing a very tough situation and are looking to make a fast house sale to cut their losses.

The recession sent UK property prices tumbling and many areas of the UK are far from recovery.

Thousands of first time buyers across the country find themselves in the worrying situation of having negative equity, i.e. they owe more than the market value of their home.

Luke and Jessica, from Bedfordshire are one such couple looking to sell their house fast. This young couple, aged twenty-three and twenty-two respectively, saved for two years to get a deposit of six thousand pounds to buy their own flat. They now are in the horrible situation of having negative equity and big mortgage payments to meet. They now have to sell their house fast to free themselves from this tough situation.

“We worked hard and saved for two years to get the six grand needed to buy our dream flat. We bought our flat in February 2007 shortly before the recession. It cost £140,000 but now is worth only £125,000 on the market. We’ve decided to sell our property fast and will just have to start all over again in a few years time. It’s a shame but we’ll be okay in the long run.”

Luke and Jessica are not the only ones who are facing this worrying situation. All across the United Kingdom, first time buyers are finding themselves in negative equity. Some are pulling up their socks and hoping to ride the storm in the hope that property prices will grow back to the pre-recession levels.
